Three smashes within 24 hours

Two people were airliftedto Melbourne hospitalsfollowing two separateaccidents on Thursday andFriday nights.

Motorists experiencedsignificant delays on Fridayevening, with diversions inplace via Settlement Rd fora number of hours followinga collision at the intersectionof Princes Highway andSale-Heyfield Rd.

According to police, adriver of a van failed to giveway, crossing into the pathof a small truck headingeast on the Princes Highwayabout 3.20pm.

The driver of the truckwas trapped for a short time,and airlifted to the AlfredHospital, Melbourne, whilethe driver and passenger ofthe van were conveyed toCentral Gippsland HealthService by ambulance fortreatment and observation.

Police were also calledto a minor accident at theintersection of Bengwordenand Hagan’s Rds about3.30pm, after a car collidedwith a cattle truck.

There were no injuries.

The cattle truck sustainedminor damage, while thesmall vehicle was towedfrom the scene.

A motorcyclist remainsin a serious condition aftercrashing into a guard railalong the Princes Highwayin Wurruk on Thursdaynight.

He was airlifted to aMelbourne hospital.

Sale police believe themale rider was travelling ata high speed when he lostcontrol of the motorcycleand collided with the leftside guard rail.

He was travelling westtowards Rosedale about6.50pm when the accidentoccurred.
